comment During upgrade to 13.10 a screen asks “do you wan to start the upgrade?”
Can you give more details? How are you upgrading? Have you run a $ sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get upgrade -y etc

comment Which version to install on macbook pro
Are you having trouble live booting Ubuntu 13.04 64-bit on your MacBook Pro? Chuck the disc in and hold down the C during boot. You'll then have the option to boot into Ubuntu 13.04 and you can try it out.

comment How can I be sure that the updated packages are not compromised?
Hi @dobey, I disagree. Tunnelling over TOR will make a man in the middle attack very unlikely and if the actual server has been compromised then packages could be falsely signed anyway. I would suggest using another server though. What are you thoughts @dobey?

Have you considered tunnelling out over TOR? It might be a slow update but it'd be secure.
