comment How can I track a bug that caused a crash and was reported via apport / whoopsie?
Sigh - reporting it via apport-bug would the bug report wouldn't have all the details that apport has already discovered as part of its crash reporting capability, and already reported to the errors.ubuntu.com site!

That is a "ProblemType: Bug" report, which I assume you manually initiated from the apport-bug command or the like. The behavior which changed for Precise is that crashes which apport notices are not reported as bugs, but rather sent into the new ErrorTracker. I'm trying to find out how to continue to track these crash bugs.

Thanks. But it still isn't clear how I can track the status of problems I've run into, and the site is a bit hard to figure out (How to interpret errors.ubuntu.com graph data? - Ask Ubuntu)

As I noted in the bug report referenced in the question, as of Precise, apport no longer submits bugs unless you change the python script, so the question is how to track progress without a bug.

comment Can the Unity dash search for content within files?
Since tatewaki wants full-text content search, which zeitgeist doesn't provide, it looks like didrock's answer is not correct and @sup's answer about recoll is the better. Is there a Unity lens for the metatracker search engine?

Has the bug been reported? Do you have a reference to it? Thanks!

comment How to play realmedia / SMIL / rtsp audio references with start/end points
@fossfreedom, I think this is still a good and relevant question which should be re-opened. The fact that one app has a well-defined feature-request bug doesn't mean that there isn't some other way to play these videos as intended.

comment Disable auto-mount for particular partitions on USB drives
I can't get gparted to mark it hidden (using precise). I can toggle e.g. the "boot" flag fine, but clicking on the "hidden" flag just spins for a few seconds and leaves it unchecked. It also seems based on this article that this won't allow me to mount it without unhiding it, so it doesn't match what we could do before: Hidden partitions tips - JustLinux Forums

Thanks for the quick response, but I'm still a bit lost. I updated the question after running across the ErrorTracker stuff (wow!). Also, what defines a "problem", since several problems can exist for one package? What does the "Function" column tell us? I wish that column was wider. Will the mtbf be affected by how much a user uses Ubuntu, or how many packages they use?

For Totem, the relevant upstream bug seems to be Bug 424708 – Add support for starttime

So which should it be - with sudo or without? I don't see sudo in the User tutorial — juju v1.0dev documentation

comment “Failed to start network default” error when trying to juju bootstrap an LXC environment
I have zookeeper installed, I've had an rsa key for a long time, and I've rebooted after installing libvirt. But I still get the same Network is already in use by interface virbr0 error unless I use sudo: sudo juju bootstrap. But I don't see you using sudo here, nor do I see it in the juju tutorial. Should that be fixed?

comment How to get previous behaviour of alt-tab task switcher in 11.10
The answers at How do I revert Alt-tab behavior to switch between windows on the current workspace? explain how to get all of the classic behavior of alt-tab via "Static Application Switcher", and are more detailed than the explanation given by xmanmonk.

comment How do I revert Alt-tab behavior to switch between windows on the current workspace?
+1: Nice and concise. But there are also warnings about key binding conflicts, and the choices (in Precise) were very confusing. So a bit of advice about that would help. E.g. what is the difference between "set Prev window (All windows) anyway" and "disable Key to start the switcher in reverse for all viewports in the Ubuntu Unity Plugin plugin?"

comment How do I set focus follows mouse?
@brandon In Precise 12.04, the availablity of the Head-Up Display (HUD) mitigates the Unified Menu Bar (UMB) problems, as does the older Alt-F10 option for getting to the menu. For those that love the keyboard, focus follows mouse can still be great. See also the suggestions and discussion at Bug #674138 ""Global” appmenu breaks sloppy focus” : Bugs : unity

comment How do I turn off alt-tab in Unity?
When closing as a duplicate, it would be helpful to link to an actual duplicate. Here is the best I could find: unity - How to get previous behaviour of alt-tab task switcher in 11.10 - Ask Ubuntu - Stack Exchange. An update for this quesion on Precise would be helpful. Unity has lots of great stuff, but lack of useful previews for browser windows drives me crazy.

comment Why using alt-tab causes Unity to restart?
@Starx or blade19899 - did you file a bug report? Clearly something is going wrong, and the best way to deal with it is try to isolate it and report it. Thanks!
