Got unstuck after posting the question here (and replied to my own question with details on the issue). Thanks for checking in!

When I push F6 the command is "file=/cdrom/preseed/ubuntu.seed boot=casper initrd=/casper/initrd.lz quiet splash --". Are you suggesting that I add "nouveau.blacklist=1" right before "quiet splash"? I did that and pushed enter and I still get a hung black screen. Also tried in combination with "nomodeset" option and I get an eternally blinking cursor.

Is there a way to do this during Ubuntu installation? I'm stuck on what appears to be an issue with the Nouveau drivers, see askubuntu.com/questions/507226/….

Can you walk me thru how I would install those drivers during the installation?

How do I get to a command line with Ctrl+Alt+F2? Tried pressing it from the boot menu and during install and nothing happened. Video card is an ASUS GTX 770.

comment How to get Netgear A6200 to work on 14.04
I followed your steps exactly and everything seems to work, but when I enter the correct password (I've checked and retyped it like 50 times) it still won't let me connect to the network. Just keeps popping up the "Authentication required by wireless network" dialogue. Seems odd.
