comment How Can I Reinstall or Restore Library Files via Command Line?
I edited the question to address the concerns. @terdon is correct that I needed to use sudo to copy the libgcc file, but I get the same error message for the libstd file. I have console access to the machine. I believe the libraries are graphical so the machine is generally functioning, just not the graphical parts. For some reason, it affects apt-get too though. Otherwise, I would just reinstall.

I am using the command "cp /home/sam/Desktop/libstdc++.so.6 /lib/i386-linux-gnu/". I don't think I am wrong on the path as I am using tab completion to specify the filename.

Admittedly, it was stupid to remove it, but multiple users reported that removing it had resolved Civ5 issues that I was also experiencing. Unfortunately, apt-get is not working as well.

comment Start Dropbox on Startup
As per the comments with vasa1, the CLI install seems to have been missing this option, but if you install the deb directly, you will get the option back.

I didn't. I kept the config files and just installed the deb directly. No problems. I just tested a restart, and it is working perfectly for me. Thanks.

Thanks for the pointer, vasa1. I installed the deb and I got the startup options back in preferences. Oddly, it is still version 2.0.26 for me though.

The download link at Dropbox links to version 1.6, which was not syncing consistently for me. The CLI route gave me a later version.
