comment How might I connect a Digital Design Mbox2 Mini to Ubuntu for use in recording an electric bass (at a hobby level)?
Yes the system can see the device. However my issue is I can't seem to get sound from the USB input into Audacity.

I reread and saw the driver is now in the kernel.

You don't want to do this. See askubuntu.com/a/16179/57914 for a great explanation of why.

Update: Just after asking this, I stumbled on zamaudio.com/?p=97 Would this be something to test?

comment How do I turn off or repurpose the CAPSLOCK key?
My main goal is to remap my CAPS LOCK key. At this point I'd be happy to remap it to TAB.

But do I key that phrase into the shell or profile? And how do those four words get associated with my vagrant-stop.sh script? @muru

Can it be connected to the stopping of the desktop manager? I appreciate @Letizia 's suggestion but I didn't understand those answers to a point where I could begin to take action. Do I place start on / stop on commands in .bashrc/.bash_profile? Do I append that phrase to the start of a command vagrant up stop on <condition>.

@chili555 That is a good solution however (and worthy of the comment upvote), I roam the campus a bit. So I'd have to begin documenting a series of MAC addresses. Not impossible, just a bit tedious. :)

comment What Ubuntu-compatible software is available to remove shaking from a video?
Could you also package this up in a bash script? transcode -J stabilize -i $1 -y null, null -o dummy and then transcode -J transform -i $1 -y xvid, null -o out-$1. Then once you've found the right settings (that work for you), wrap this in a for loop.

Whoo Hoo! Given the above advice, this command line works magic: vboxmanage list runningvms | sed -r 's/.*\{(.*)\}/\1/' | xargs -L1 -I {} VBoxManage controlvm {} savestate

comment Double password entry when changing active users in Ubuntu 13.10
Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. In my case it was gnome-screensaver on 14.04 with Cinnamon. I removed it leaving cinnamon-screensaver in place.
