comment Set Print-Screen Shortcuts With Script
It gets cleared almost every time there is an update labeled ubuntu base, which I believe updates compiz unity or both. This can be worked around by script either every boot or after update of ubuntu base if you know how.

comment Assigning Print button to screenshot not working after upgrade from 13.10 to 14.04
Going through the linked bug report has a workaround at the end. It boils down to 2 key codes being assigned to (Print), entering: xmodmap -pk | grep Print ,into a terminal window will show this. There is also a command listed in the report to change this, however this varies depending on your machine. After that command is issued the printscreen shortcuts can be re-assigned and should work, the only problem is this key assignment & functionality didn't survive a reboot. Work around script could be made issueing commands to reassign the keys, and the gsettings to assign printscreen.

What version of Ubuntu are you using? Try Ubuntu Tweak there are versions for each Ubuntu release.

comment How to use gsettings when there is no schema listed
Just a minor note to the command listed above, the backslash "\" following active-plugins is only inserted so the command can be copied and pasted in a terminal directly, and escape the un-quoted return that is inserted due to the formatting of the Ask Ubuntu blockquote tag. If using this command in a script or typing it directly it would mot be needed.

revised How to use gsettings when there is no schema listed
Added "quotes" to the value as part of the proper GVariant formatting required for setting strings.
