Wifi not working ubuntu 11.10 No i haven't @Suhaib, I am sticking with the lts version. Do you think i should? I would appreciate if you could tell me if 13.04 supports broadcom wireless drivers out of the box. Hardware compatibility has always been an issue with ubuntu distros. |

Wifi not working ubuntu 11.10 Yep it still bothers me sometimes. I installed the additional wireless drivers and it works but if i turn disable wifi by the hardware switch, i can't switch it on back. The button doesn't seem to work. |

Configure sSMTP with Gmail, in Ubuntu 12.04 LTS Thanks for your reply @coteyr, I changed the port to 465 but get this error Cannot open smtp.gmail.com:465 and I tried telnet smtp.gmail.com it says network unreachable . So i think it is a connectivity issue. Am i missing some certificates that need to be installed or is the proxy? how do i resolve it? |

How to force quit out of an infinite loop in a bash script gracefully The cursor stops blinking after some time, so i know there is a loop going on. I want this script to run on startup. I want to stop the bash script by passing a flag like bash logger.sh -stop and if i want it to start again it should be something like bash logger.sh -start How do i go about this? |

Bash script not working properly when run automatically Thanks @MHC , i solved the problem with notifications by adding these two things to the bash script: **DISPLAY=:0 && export XAUTHORITY=/home/vivek/.Xauthority ** considering that the bash script showed errors about X11 authorizations when i dumped them into a file. |

Bash script not working properly when run automatically Thanks @fred.smiley but i need that script to run when an active connection is established only. Thats precisely why i placed it in the /etc/network/if-up.d |

Bash script not working properly when run automatically thanks for your reply. Now the script is running as I mentioned and i changed the ownership to root. The main reason for me to put that script in /etc/network/if-up.d is because I want that script to run when my laptop is connected to a network on an if up kind of an event. So thats a constraint. I do not want to run it on startup or like other command. The network manager automatically runs the scripts in the if-up.d folder on an active connection. |
