How do you start-up in the login screen with Num Lock on? I tried it on ubuntu 10.04. It works on GDM login window. However the num lock is off after login my account. Any other script or session to turn it off again? |

Using a folder on an ntfs partition as /home @Pinto, thanks for your reply. Yes, I know ntfs misses some features comparing to the file system used by linux. But in my knowledge it's the best way to keep the personal data safty without creating a ext3/ext4 partition. I did such thing when using 9.04 several months ago, it worked well. |

Gnome panel suddenly becomes transparent! @karthick87, I don't set background for that panel. And the compiz is off now. The none option of 'visual effects' is checked. I tried to set it to normal, the panel is shown again! I changed it to none to see what it will happen. Thanks for giving me a hint. |

How to set different environment variables for different hosts @Gilles, you're right. LD_LIBRARY_PATH is an exception, it need be defined in .bashrc. Then it works on Solaris. |

Evolution can get the mail list from server, but the content can't be loaded @Thex, I agree with you. Evoulution is better than thurdbird in accessing exchange server. However the performance of accessing exchange server also has greate buffer to be improved. :) |
