'been around computers ever since Hero's Quest 1 (So you want to be a hero?) and then some. And before someone asks, yes, I think myself very funny with my website entry.

comment How well does Webmin 1.580 work with 12.04?
Thanks, but do you(or someone) know whether those issues are related to new 12.04 functionalities not being available with 1.580, or is it plainly unusable?

An excellent question; I'm new here, but I think it's for the sake of the UI fall-back option. As to whether it should work on 12.04, it's the mention "To support the new Ubuntu Linux 12.04 release, we have released Webmin development version 1.587 and Usermin 1.507 with full support for the new Ubuntu version." on webmin's site that is nagging me.

thank you very much, that did the trick! I'm from Win world so I'm stiil hazy as to the organization of the file-system in there. As soon as I was able to get to my .profile and edited it correctly, everything when right!

comment how to modify another user's .profile from the recovery console?
Hi, and thanks for helping! Is IIRC supposed to be a command? The prompt is stating root@my-machine-name, but I cant seem to find my way to my profile, nor query it to know whether the correct partition was mounted. Ubuntu is running in a vmWare virtual machine, so I doubt there would be more than one partition. I didn't create anyone more.
