No monitor output after fresh install of 11.10 64-bit Your could not create lock file error sounds like you might have a much larger issue--meaning, it might be easiest to just reinstall. Other than that, I posted the contents of my failsafe config file just in case. |

No monitor output after fresh install of 11.10 64-bit added file contents of my xorg.conf.failsafe file... not sure if this will help OP, but the failsafe file looks pretty generic (i.e. it looks generic and doesnt appear to be something that was created specifically for my system, but I could be wrong) |
