I am really grateful you took some time to answer, however I am new to the ubuntu scene so any tutorial on what to do with this file would be much appreciated. Thanks again for your effort :D

I tried using only the dedicated card but to no avail. I finally resorted to bumblebee with primus which makes things better than standard bumblebee. Here are the link in case anyone needs help later: steamcommunity.com/app/221410/discussions/6/846939854395110175 wiki.ubuntu.com/Bumblebee webupd8.org/2012/11/primus-better-performance-and-less.html ivegotavirus.com/how-to-fix-bumblebee-on-ubuntu-12-10

Well I did all that and installed the experimental nvidia 310 drivers but after a restart Unity was nowhere to be found. I could right click and open folders on the desktop but I couldn't access much, any reason why this is happening? :/

Well it would be really great if there was a way to switch between them but I would prefer the intergrated if there is no choice (so that I can play games). Thanks for the info!!!

I don't mind using only the dedicated card but how can I do that? (not an option in the bios) Also what do you mean by removing Nouveau? (kinda new).

00:02.0 VGA compatible controller [0300]: Intel Corporation 2nd Generation Core Processor Family Integrated Graphics Controller [8086:0116] (rev 09) (prog-if 00 [VGA controller]) 01:00.0 VGA compatible controller [0300]: nVidia Corporation Device [10de:0dce] (rev a1) (prog-if 00 [VGA controller])
That is what lspci -vnnn | grep VGA gives me as output.
As a matter of fact I have optimus, I will try Bublebee and will post what happens. If I get this black screen again, is there any way to revert back to normal or I have to install Ubuntu again? Thanks for the info!
