Compile Linux Source in /home I've had serious trouble compiling a kernel in a directory not called '/usr/src/kernel', with kernel being a symlink to the kernel source tree. Maybe things changed over the past 5 years, but I just don't want to find out the hard way. |

I cannot access anything after updating to latest version of Ubuntu Strike [Ctrl][Alt][F1] to switch to a console. Log in with your user credentials. At the $-prompt type 'df -h' and 'df -hi' and copy the output here. Look for lines that say '100%'. To shutdown the system type 'sudo shutdown -h now', to return to Unity strike [Ctrl][Alt][F7] |

How to Make A Root Script Run Pynotify sux is a readable shell script. Install it [sudo apt-get install sux], find its location [which sux], view it [cat $(which sux)]. If you don't like it remove it [sudo apt-get purge sux] |

Why does ubuntu get slow after a period of time? Ideally you compare your chart with one in a little while and see how they differ. But you can check the various names of boot scripts on Internet already and see if you really need all of them. But this is a tricky job, you can easily make your system unusable if you turn off wrong scripts. At least you should be able now to figure out which job takes the most time and where potentially the most saving can be found. |
