comment What is causing this disk I/O spike?
Note: I tried this twice more and was able to reproduce it only one of those times. Seems to be a sporadic issue.

Is this a Raspberry Pi 1 or 2? Also, what is the output of "uname -a" on the Pi? Not all kernels are hard-float (the "hf" in "armhf").

comment Why is it unsafe to delete old kernels?
Don't remove all of your kernels (obviously) but also don't remove the currently running kernel if you have just installed an updated kernel and have not yet rebooted. Why? If something breaks in the updated kernel, you can always select your previous kernel in Grub and get back to work. Otherwise, you will be stuck with an unbootable system and have to play the "LiveCD game" (not a fun game, BTW).

comment How to verify that the ISO I downloaded is bootable before I burn it?
That's a very good question - I wrote this answer four years ago, so I honestly don't remember exactly why. I've removed it now.

comment Build failed LaunchPad “Dependency wait on lgw01-31”
Can you give us a link to the page? We might be able to better determine what's going on if we can view the buildlog. Also "lgw01-31" is the name of the machine that attempted to build the package.
