I'm a music education major at Shepherd University. I couldn't stand the limitations that OSX/Windows gave me, so I made the switch to Linux. Started out with Ubuntu 11.04, survived up until 12.04, and after my system crash as I upgraded to 12.10, I decided to switch to Arch Linux as my default distro.

Multiboot System Advice? my biggest reason for wanting at least one more distro is because i want a fallback incase i crash Ubuntu. But, you do have a point. I probably don't want too many boots! Thank you for your answer about preferences!!! |

Version of Java not matching up What exactly is gcj? I installed it by downloading a .tar.gz of Java 6 and installed it from there. |

How to remove the glow around an icon when it requests attention? Just so I know, what exactly do I change to remove the outer glow? I think I removed it but it's still there. Also, I found the glow background .png, but every time I change it, it always restores itself. |

Ubuntu 11.10 login failure I gave it a try. I can't remember exactly all that it said, but it failed. It said something about an error right at the beginning of the process. any ideas? would you recommend a straight reinstall? and just progressively try reinstalling packages so i can either recreate the problem or get rid of it? |
