User of Ubuntu since 11.04. Currently running 14.10. Amateur CLI geek. Interested in Javascript and, to a lesser extent, Python and Java.

That's an Iguana, not a lizard. And yes, there is a difference.

Random quotes...

Don't blame me. I'm an interpreter. I'm not supposed to know a power socket from a computer terminal.

Okay, so it seems like the problem is a great library for generating PDF files with PHP.
So almost true...

Cat: We're all mad here. I'm mad. You're mad.
Alice: How do you know I'm mad?
Cat: You must be. Or you wouldn't have come here.

comment I completely removed libsqlite3-0 and everything essential was removed. How do I restore ubuntu?
What command did you use to remove sqlite3? Can you be more specific about what you mean by "everything"? Thanks.

@Elder Yes, I believe it would. Not perfect, but still an answer

@ElderGeek Can't the OP just use the same commands, but for the home directory?

Or just change the boot order. I don't think recommending a total BIOS revert is the best option here. +1 nevertheless.

comment How should I deal with bugs that are for unsupported versions of Ubuntu?
@ThomasW. I checked the triage guide when this question was asked. If it is in there it isn't very clear.

comment What caused this GRUB error?
@Hans Reinstalling might work because the system may skip the bad sectors, although usually you have to replace the bad blocks manually. Really you should replace the hard drive ASAP.

comment Script to move files or directories using scp and zenity
Ask Ubuntu is not a code writing service. If you have a specific question about your existing code then you can ask here or on Stack Overflow. If you want someone to review your working code then you can ask on Code Review. Asking someone to write a script for you is not going to go over well on any SE site.

Close voters: This question is not off-topic. It is about bug triaging, and is not a support question!

comment What caused this GRUB error?
@Hans Your hard drive had 9 bad sectors. Either the drive is failing (it's old, there was a defect, etc) or you seriously banged it around. Definitely a clue to what happened. Your disk is damaged!

comment Why doesn't running “sudo shutdown now” shutdown?
Close voters: This is not a duplicate. While the questions are similar this one is asking about a specific command, the other a general way of shutting the machine down from the command-line.
