comment Installation Failure on MacBook Pro (2Ghz/Core i7)
Hi John. Sorry I didn't see that you were trying to use a USB install. That's a problem in itself (see askubuntu.com/questions/28495/…). Are you getting the same error with DVD or USB or both?

comment Youtube doesn't work anymore in firefox (Ubuntu 14.04)
The problem would appear to be because of the pipelight plugin. Also, according to the Pipelight install instructions, it will disable every plugin by default and you need to explicitly re-enable them. Did you do this?

comment Reasons why crontab does not work
@TomHarrisonJr That's misleading. 'crontab -e' uses the editor you set in your environment. If it's vi, then it will append newline to the last line. But crontab doesn't check lines end with newline, as clearly stated in the man page excerpt in the answer.

comment How to install and run UNetbootin?
To clarify owl's comment, I was on an older version of Ubuntu and unetbootin wouldn't show me the latest versions, since I installed it through that older Ubuntu. Adding this PPA did the trick: I could see all recent versions and was then able to USB install a newer one (much faster than do-release-upgrade).

comment nautilus-dropbox : Depends: dropbox but it is not going to be installed
Yeah, installing the "dropbox" package rather than "nautilus-dropbox" is the key.

comment How to install Oracle Java on Ubuntu 14.04?
I'm going to assume you know how to follow the instructions to install the tar.gz file. The problem is that website doesn't have java 8. So how did you download it? Did you go to oracle.com?

comment Where is the output file?
You have all the necessary dependencies like matplotlib? In any case, you'd be better off asking in a SymPy forum, not an Ubuntu one.

comment Where is the output file?
Isn't the output a QASM file? Then there is a package, qasm2circ, to turn a QASM file to a figure, as explained in the very first link on your linked webpage... btw, this is not an Ubuntu question.
