comment How to upgrade the nouveau driver in 14.04 LTS?
as far as I understand, that would not have any results, I guess what I'm looking for is upgrading to the xserver-xorg-video-nouveau package of 15.10 or something like that?

comment Init.d startup script not working for No-IP
ok, I guess what was happening is that it was running the command before launching the network interface, so if you do sleep 30 && /usr/local/bin/noip2 it will work. Therefore I'm upvoting this for being the simplest solution of all, no need to tinker with init.d scripts!

this has worked for me beautifully (don't forget to click on "Apply" after disabling the display, instead of just closing the dialog)

comment What package is glib-sharp-3.0 in?
@user76204 I've downvoted your answer, the stable version of banshee has never required glib-sharp-3.0, he needs a new version that is still not packaged because he's compiling banshee master branch or a 2.9.x release, not stable

the big ON|OFF widget there is not available in 12.04, that's one one has to resort to the command line...

comment Kernel Panic - not syncing: VFS: Unable to mount root fs on unknown-block(0,0)
what if the kernel panic is being shown when selecting the unique kernel option that exists for that OS (in a multi-boot scenario), how does one go to launch update-initramfs?
