comment Installing Ubuntu on a SSD and HDD system
You really, really wanna put the swap on the SSD instead of the HDD. It makes a world of difference if you ever start hitting swap, with an SSD it just gets mildly annoying, with an HDD you can pretty much just hit the hard RESET button.

comment Why does the sudo command not work in chroot?
@SamB Should be automagically created by installing the sudo package to the new root.

comment How to sandbox applications?
@JavierRivera FWIW, SELinux as well. No idea how easy it'd be to get running on Ubuntu though.

comment What Programming Language Would Be Best For Ubuntu Programming?
+1 for Py, it's the simplest, fastest (in terms of dev time) and damn near everything in a modern Lunix distro has a Py API.

+1 for actually writing the right answer and explaining that shellopts may change it.

comment How do I create a script file for terminal commands?
You might wanna change that /bin/bash to /bin/sh, bash isn't even the default for Ubuntu.

comment So, what is the advantage of using the terminal?
I'd say there's a 5., namely, scripting possibilities. You can automate anything, I even have a script that launches a random episode of my favorite series when I wanna procrastinate... Get your PC a couple of wheels & you can probably write a script that gets you beer from the fridge, and if you put it in cron, it'll meet you at the door with it when you come back from work...

comment How to hide terminal output when executing a command?
@Random832 Well in principle, I'd suggest piping that stderr to /dev/dsp or aplay for extra lulz... :) But you're right, in theory it could be done, in practice -- I'd probably at least write a rather impolite email to the guy who did that.

Might wanna make that eclipse 2&>1 >/dev/null to get rid of stderr. The default only redirects stdout. And there is no "different" way to do it, if you purge both stdout and stderr into the nether, there'll be no output.
