comment Dropbox syncing never finishes
Thanks, I used this link: dropbox.com/install?os=lnx and the problem was solved. The only problem is that the changes I made to my Dropbox folder before the install, got mixed up with changes I made from other computers..

Why not use KeePassX on both systems? Their website has a Windows version: keepassx.org/downloads

comment Installing Ubuntu on an existing Windows system without creating a CD?
I actually meant to ask if it is possible to install Ubuntu without burning it on any external device - CD, DVD or USB stick; just using the ISO image from Windows.

comment Installing Ubuntu on an existing Windows system without creating a CD?
I think I tried this in the past but it formatted my USB stick... Is there a way to install from USB without wiping its contents?

I added an "include" statement and it solved the problem. Thanks! I also notified the package maintainers in order to help future users.

@EliahKagan Thanks! I didn't know about paste.ubuntu.com. I now put the entire message log over there.

But, the idea of printing to PDF is useful in itself - it allows to check the problem without wasting paper.

I printed from Evince but, the output file (which I indeed found in ~/PDF) did not contain the pages with the images...

comment Fill the area below/above an x-y curve in Calc
I tried to use area chart type, but, instead of a single line, I got two areas (one for x and one for y). Is there a way around this?

comment What is the boot folder
"The Tao of Backup" is fantastic, thanks! About the boot folder: can you please elaborate: suppose my hard-drive crashes and I re-install Ubuntu on a new drive. This new installation already has a boot folder. So what should I do with my backuped boot folder?

Turns out this was a bug in the VirtualBox version available from the software center (4.1.12)... problem was solved after I switched to the latest VirtualBox version from the Oracle site (4.2.16)

apt-get tells me that "cups-pdf is already the newest version." How can I check what version it is? I work on a fresh 12.04 install. I experience the problem only when trying to print a pdf on paper.
