comment How do I get a list of non-LTS packages installed efficiently?
@ignis You could use something like this (it's ugly, but does the job I think): dpkg -l | grep 'ii' | awk ' {print $2}' | xargs apt-cache show | grep 'Package:\|Supported:' | awk 'BEGIN{lts=false;p="Non-LTS packages:"} {if ($1 == "Package:"){ if (lts == false){print p}; p=$2 } else if ($0 == "Supported: 5y"){lts=true}} END {if (lts == false) print p}'

The purpose of this answer was to show that using xargs made the solution given by the OP much faster. If you want to list the individual packages you need a more complex script.

Does Super+P do anything? (you might know the Super key as the Windows key) Also what driver are you using? (Look for Software & Updates and then in the Additional Drivers tab)

Thanks for your answer, although NTM is ugly, it does exactly what I asked for. Datafox, is only for 2 Indian providers so it is not that useful for me ;)

Thank you for your answer, in Raring this package is not available, so I installed it via PPA. The program does implement data limits but only for one session. So you cannot monitor your total data usage for a month (maybe in a later version you can).

This behavior is solved by the usb-modeswitch packages, however installing for example Mobile Partner overwrites these settings. You can solve this by purging usb-modeswitch-data and then reinstalling it.

comment How to Install Huawei Mobile Partner 21 in Ubuntu
I have followed your answer, and it is the most forward way to install Mobile Partner, however, I would advise against it. It is full of bugs and compromises the security of your system. The most important one is that it adds ALL ALL=(ALL) NOPASSWD:ALL to your sudoers file which allows to run all sudo commands without password!

comment Does Minitube have automatic playlist?
I hope this is a temporary workaround, because I think it is very bad practice to have to uninstall a package to get another package working. For example what if you're on Kubuntu? Then phonon-backend-gstreamer is actually a dependency of the kubuntu-desktop package. I have put this remark on the forum thread I linked to.

Sorry, my mistake, actually the Ubuntu Software Center has 2 versions. The 2.1 version is in the paid section. See my answer below for the solution.
