the shell specified in /etc/passwd for www-data user. # grep www /etc/passwd www-data:x:33:33:www-data:/var/www:/usr/sbin/nologin See www-data has nologin shell

Ok, I got nginx installed, therefore www-data exists. I just doesn't use nginx right at the moment. I need to get unicorn up and running. This script doesn't work as www-data doesn't have a shell (due to security reasons). I need a help in getting that around

Summing up:)) I see that ideal solution simply doesn't exist. I installed some packages from the sources - quite few toughf. The way your command performs is what I needed more than less. Thank you!
