comment Linux and Windows on same computer. Access windows from ubuntu
The Windows version already installed assumes that it has exclusive access to all hardware. Inside a virtual environment, Windows gets access to virtualized hardware. It still assumes it has exclusive access, but that's OK : the virtualized hardware is designed to work around that assumption. But it means that the Windows install differs in the hardware drivers needed, orat least the settings needed.

comment Is Ubuntu MAAS free?
@BrunoPereira: The individual contribution copyrights do not take away the fact that there's a separate copyright created by Canonical when they compiled those contributions into a book.

comment Is Ubuntu MAAS free?
@poolie: Be aware that you might be making the same mistake here, and that's confusing free software and free documentation. There are dozens if not hundreds of copyrighted books about Linux, and that doesn't make Linux one iota less free. MAAS can be free even if the documentation isn't.

comment Would Android apps be able to run in Ubuntu touch natively?
Right - running a set of phone libraries on a desktop that's 10 times more powerful is extremely inefficient? We've been running mobile phone emulators on desktops for a decade now.

comment What version of GCC is used by the make command?
@lion: Why migrate? It properly belongs on StackOverflow. make and gcc are not specific to Ubuntu, far from that.

comment How to add a new hard drive to Ubuntu?
Why would you care if the disk is sync'ed? Disks, new and old are usually in an unsync'ed state. Buffer, same story. And kernels are of course OK with new partitions. That is basic functionality, whether you use it for CD's, USB sticks, or just new drives.

Reboot? What would be the point in that? Rebooting will mount every auto-mount partition from /etc/fstab but so will mount -a.

comment How do I run an application with arguments from the command line without losing the terminal?
"nohup" stands for "no hang up". This dates back to early Unix, when (physical) terminals were regularly attached via telephone lines, and you'd therefore close a terminal by hanging up the phone.

@Random832: No. A trademark is the "exclusive right to use the registered mark in commerce" (§1115 Lanham Act)
