comment Drivers for TP-LINK TL-WN725N Nano USB Wireless N adapter
Seems to work well so far. It wasn't necessary to reboot. Thanks! Though actually I didn't think to check if the adapter works without installing this driver.

comment Installing Broadcom Wireless Drivers
Using a Dell Latitude D400 here. lspci -nn -d 14e4: shows that the card is a BCM4309 and device code is 14e4:4324. dmesg shows that the driver detects it as a BCM4306, rev.4. I had to install the firmware-b43legacy-installer package as well as linux-firmware-nonfree. Thanks to this answer for the tip on that second package.

comment Lubuntu Wireless Driver for BCM4309 [14e4:4324] (rev 02)
I didn't see anything in the other page about the linux-firmware-nonfree package. This seems to have solved my problem. Thanks!

comment Why doesn't Ubuntu remove old kernels automatically?
Doesn't "old" mean "not one of the last 2 (or three) kernels to be booted"? Unless you've got two different lines of kernels installed? Hmm I suppose you might be using an older version of a kernel for a different install on another partition. But there should be a default state that gets cancelled out if you are some kind of funk wizard. Or it should at least by default allocate enough space on /boot that you don't need to worry about this for years. Otherwise grannies are never gonna run linux.
