comment .exe files getting downloaded when asked to install `ubuntu-restricted-extras`
There is a debian package for this. It does exactly the same thing. The problem is legal, not technical.

comment Command to quit[cleanly] GUI applications from a tty?
@Vish: As far as I know, System Monitor sends a SIGTERM when you use it to end a process. And a SIGKILL if the app hasn't exited after some time / if the user tries it again (and Windows does something nearly identical). I could be mistaken though, as I rarely use the System Monitor.

comment Command to quit[cleanly] GUI applications from a tty?
@Vish: SIGTERM is the default signal for most task-killing programs. There is no reason why kill -TERM $PID would have better results than using top or killall with the default parameters.

Fixed a mistake about whether Web History was applied to users without a Google account or not.

comment Why does Google search always count more results in Firefox or Chrome than in Chromium?
It is not a navigator/network/etc problem: I get 1'500'000 results on Chrome (in normal), and 1'750'000 on IE and Chrome Incognito mode (on Windows XP) - Chrome is on the same machine in both cases. I would suggest that you redo your tests in Chromium incognito. And, once again, [WebApps][webapps.stackexchange.com] would be a better place for this question.

comment Is there a IRC Client which can use or emulate mIRC scripts
Do not forget that Pidgin is a generalistic application, made to function with a wide variety of IM protocols - as such, IRC scripting is not the focus of Pidgin.
