comment How to tell what kind of RAM is used?
In my case I was aware that the motherboard needs to accept the module but I wasn't aware that you only get optimum performance if the new module is of the exact same type as the one already in use so I was looking for a software-way to make sure I'm getting best performance after my upgrade.

For me too: DDR3 1600 MHz. So does that mean both modules are the same type and I'm getting best performance?

comment Make USB key with encrypted Ubuntu install bootable using GParted?
As I stated in my original post the "Partition" menu is greyed out and setting the boot flag for the /efi instead of the /boot partition didn't work so I'm at a loss.

I don't think it's that complicated. I got a German Wiki saying you just need to check in GParted if the device is marked as bootable if you can't boot from it. I guess they are talking about boot flags...

Well I just realized I CAN add the boot flag to a partition on the USB key by right clicking on the partition. I have three partitions: /boot /efi and /. Which needs to have the boot flag, /boot or /efi?
