No, I'm affraid this is not true for my stock 14.04 Ubuntu/Unity installation. I'm using dnsmasq, and /etc/resolv.conf just has: nameserver 127.0.1.1.

comment Repeated keystrokes lost in Unity
+1 I think I was messing with x11vnc from a remote host, after which keyboard repeating stopped working. Toggling Key presses repeat when key is held down also worked for me.

comment Window tiling (Move-to-{corner,side}) shortcuts in Ubuntu 13.04
The problem I have with this solution is that it not only moves a window, but also resizes it. :-(

This doesn't work for me. With a vpnc VPN connected, nm-tool shows the original DNS server, but the VPN's DNS server is not listed. So it might work some of the time but is not reliable in every case.

This doesn't work for me. With a vpnc VPN connected, nmcli dev list iface eth0 shows the original DNS server, but the VPN's DNS server is not listed, even if I use tun0 for <interfacename>. So it might work some of the time but is not reliable in every case.
