comment How to save VPN passwords with NetworkManger for nmcli?
Didn't work for me. As root I got: (process:2034): libnm-glib-WARNING **: async_got_type: could not read properties for /org/freedesktop/NetworkManager/ActiveConnection/4: Method "Get" with signature "ss" on interface "org.freedesktop.DBus.Properties" doesn't exist Error: Connection activation failed: Creating object for path '/org/freedesktop/NetworkManager/ActiveConnection/4' failed in libnm-glib. As user "me", it opened the login dialog on the remote desktop.

comment How to save VPN passwords with NetworkManger for nmcli?
Didn't work for me here on now 15.04. If I ran nmcli con up id MyVPN as my own user, the password dialog still appears on the remote machine's desktop. Running sudo nmcli con up id MyVPN gave first (process:3320): libnm-glib-WARNING **: async_got_type: could not read properties for /org/freedesktop/NetworkManager/ActiveConnection/7: Method "Get" with signature "ss" on interface "org.freedesktop.DBus.Properties" doesn't existand then Error: Connection activation failed: Creating object for path '/org/freedesktop/NetworkManager/ActiveConnection/7' failed in libnm-glib.

comment How to enter password on console with NetworkManager's nmcli
I just tried --ask which is in Ubuntu 15.04. If I run this from a console over ssh, then the dialog asking for the password still appears on the remote desktop, not where I can see it in the ssh session. :-( If I had access to the remote desktop, I wouldn't need nmcli

@Thor Thanks, I know about tmux and I "consider" it, but on average tend to forget / not bother :-)

This is GREAT. Now if I loose network connectivity, I can resume vim after logging in again without having to resort to killing vim and cleaning up with vim -r. Wish I could give more than one up-vote!

No, I'm affraid this is not true for my stock 14.04 Ubuntu/Unity installation. I'm using dnsmasq, and /etc/resolv.conf just has: nameserver 127.0.1.1.

comment Repeated keystrokes lost in Unity
+1 I think I was messing with x11vnc from a remote host, after which keyboard repeating stopped working. Toggling Key presses repeat when key is held down also worked for me.
