comment unix env command can't find file even though its in the current directory
Unix is not DOS. If . (or an empty entry) is not in PATH, the current directory will not be searched. This is by design, so you don't get trojaned just by being in the wrong directory. :-)

comment How do I connect with my Verizon Mobile Broadband dongle?
Oh dear. Hmm. Well, I updated my answer to answer your question, anyway. You may need a newer version of usb-modeswitch (if one exists---unlikely given you're using 10.10) that knows about your device.

And, in many cases, the latter means you have to upgrade to the latest version of the ALSA drivers (involves doing your own kernel module compilation).

comment How do I install a Wacom Bamboo Fun?
IIRC, that is not enough. There is also a kernel module that needs to be updated from the Linux Wacom drivers site, if you're using the very latest products.
