I am a software developer with a fair amount of Linux knowledge. I love Open Source and the idea behind free-software. Therefore Ubuntu/Linux seemed the logical choice for main OS. I have to addmit, I am also using a windows machine for gaming, as I am an avid gamer too.

Where to publish useful customised functions @maggotbrain I prefer to host my projects on Gitorious rather then Github because it uses Free Software. Wiki extract: Gitorious is open source and freely available for download and personal use, whereas GitHub is closed-source. |

How can I get Ubuntu to work alongside windows 8? @Molly the link Eliah Kagan provided in his first comment should help you. Another solution would be to return the laptop and buy one without Win 8 on it. |
