notify-send ignores timeout? This is not really a bug. It's a design decision. |

Remapping keyboard shortcuts (copy, paste etc) to Alt key instead of Ctrl I had already tried that, but for some reason xdotool doesn't work when it is called from xmonad. |

What is the use of the workspaces? The behaviour of the Unity left bar is very similar to OSX dock and Windows 7 bottom bar. This is by design. You can right click the terminal icon and select New Terminal or you can Ctrl+N on an existing Terminal for instance. If you don't like this then you probably should consider using an alternative way to launch applications. (Dmenu, Gnome-do etc.) |

How to change the Ubuntu source code Ubuntu, as you know, is an operating system. Quite naturally, it actually consists of many different parts that depend on each other. What in particular do you want to modify? You may decide that you want to modify the kernel code, for instance. Or you may just want to modify a specific application that comes with the operating system (like gedit). |

What is the use of the workspaces? I think their problem was not being able to launch another copy of an already existing application. For instance, imagine you are launching terminal from the bar. You have a terminal but your workspace gets too crowded and you decide to go to a new workspace. You click the terminal icon to start a new terminal. Immediately you are taken back to your older workspace, to the existing terminal. |
