Weird, I installed 13.10 and wifi did not work. In fact, neither the touch nor type keyboards worked so I couldn't get into the prompts to complete installation.

I see this is still an active question, so just to add a note: this was the result of ubuntu having Detroit listed as in Canada in 12.04, which was reported as a bug and subsequently corrected.

How is it possible to do step 4, which installs boot repair from the repos before doing step 5, which sets up wifi? I'd like to follow this guide on my surface, but suspect I'm missing something here.
