comment BQ aquaris 4.5 freezing on start up screen
You cannot access the battery unless you break the bq telephone. And there is no whatsapp on the Ubuntu system. So... what exactly are you talking about?

comment dvd95, alternative?
I had many problems already when mixing DE's stuff that I would not like to risk another reinstallation :) dvd95 did not only shrink, it allowed you to choose what you want in it (audio tracks, subtitles, menus, and so on) and then changed the quality of the output to adjust to these settings. Does DVD shrink do it too?

comment My Ubuntu MX4 is frozen after installing xubuntu-desktop with apt-get
You tried to install another desktop on it? This sounds crazy, I like it! :P On the bq you can reboot in Recovery mode by pressing for like 30s Vol up + Power button.

comment Chromium Won't Play Youtube Videos Past the Ads
Unlike in Chrome, Flash is not bundled in Chromium, for obvious licensing reasons. Since May 2015 can be installed with the adobe-flashplugin package.

BTW thanks for taking the time to answer. I updated the question stating this clearly, I would like something more native than k9copy for Unity.

126 packages of dependencies (kate, kactivity, plasma libraries, seriously?). So, it is NOT a serious alternative to dvd95 (which is a native Gnome application).

I don't know of other tools apart from iTunes, which does not support Linux. We wait for someone else that knows better than me :)

The problem is not on the Ubuntu side, but on the device side. Unfortunately for you, it is really uncompatible with other operating systems than the one decided by Apple and if Apple decide that Ubuntu is not compatible with its programs, than there is nothing that we can do.

Is your device bricked now? If so, do you have a backup stored somewhere where you can get your data from? If not, probably the unique valid option is to follow the official guide for recovery, on a system that Apple supports (and that is not Ubuntu, since they do not support Linux OSs).

How did you lost your data exactly? Or do you want to make a backup? Have you tried with dd?
