Can I do a Silent or Unattended Release Upgrade? I'm using the graphical update manager, not apt-get. I could do the update in the console, but I've heard 'apt-get dist-upgrade' didn't work in years (to upgrade between releases), so the command wouldn't be 'apt-get'. |

WIne + Steam = How safe am I? Just remove the reference to Mint and people will be happy :-). Your question is completely distro-independent. Short answer is you have to watch out for security holes in the windows apps you are using (which is not a big deal for games) and take care that you don't install adware etc.. |

What fast image viewers are available for Ubuntu? I'm not having problems with the loading time of the applications, but rather with the loading time of the images. Eye of Gnome, Shotwell, Ristretto, GPicView, all load fast enough and their interface works fine. I can even run Digikam, which has a long startup time but once loaded is OK. I'm looking mainly for something that lets me switch quickly between large images, not necessarily for a minimal GUI. |

What fast image viewers are available for Ubuntu? People that can add tags: Maybe you should consider a low-end tag for questions about running Ubuntu on low-end or older hardware? (Alternatively we could have a tag concerning lean and fast setups of Ubuntu.) |
