Nvidia driver doesn't work in 12.10 I set up a fresh 12.10 and followed your instructions. The nvidia still couldn't load ( modprob nvidia said "nvidia_current_updates not found") and also the configuration for nouveau was kind of messed up. I tried it a second time: fresh 12.10 install, then first installing all updates (I suppose this included a kernel update, but I didn't check that in detail), then installing linux-headers-generic and linux-source and finally installing nvida-current-updates. Then nvidia drivers were working. That's why I added "install updates first" to your answer. |

Set default printer settings libreoffice I'm using LibreOffice 4. Using spadmin allows me to change the default settings of the printer as you describe (I want to set b/w printing per default, not colorful). Also a file ~/.config/libreoffice/4/user/psprint/psprint.conf is created. But it does not seem to contain any information about the color printing. Also if I rename the folder libreoffice and start LibreOffice again, it is still set to b/w, so this specific setting is stored somewhere else. |

VSFTPd stopped working after update Could you add instructions how to install the Oneiric package you linked? Should I manually download the package? I suppose adding oneiric-updates to my repositories will mess up things quite a lot. |

User's password can not be set with passwd Could you add the output of grep freak_storm /etc/passwd? Delete any (hashed) password strings before putting them here into the public! |

Screen saver issue @EliahKagan Yeah, you are right. It wasn't worth it to mention this here. I added "gnome-screenshot" already as "affected project" but did not write add upstream bug, because I'm not sure enough about the problem and the other bug reports. I'm still quite newbie here. I'm currently working on it, I'll try to add more information then. |

Annoying file system check, when starting the computer with WOL I thought about this. But I decided that it is not even worth to run this one command, since 30 boots is nearly the same as every month... ;) Thanks for your hint anyway! |
