comment Is it possible to obtain a public share link with the original name of the file?
I am not the OP. However, I just hate it when people downvote (either a question or an answer) w/o explaining the reason. What value does this have? How can the OP improve the question? Obviously, he is a fresh member here - what welcome message does he get if the 1st response is an unexplained downvote???!?!?!

comment What is the difference between “source” and “.” in bash?
@Christopher - if you had a chance to read that question (which I posted), you'd see that my confusion was settled. I posted the above comment, with reference to my question, before getting the answer.

Thanks! @EliahKagan made it a few seconds earlier :-)

This actually contradicts what I see in this question: askubuntu.com/questions/182012/…

+1, but note that this affects ALL of the system tooltips. If you want a solution just for Eclipse, follow @bain's answer.

comment Which Dell laptops are fully compatible with Ubuntu 12.04?
Thanks. 13" Laptop, although a dream in terms of mobility (esp. for someone who really want to get rid of years of 15.6" latitude weight), is unusable due to low screen resolution.

izx, yes this is generally what I am looking for, but I'm a little bit flexible so I did not want to restrict the discussion.

Anyway, are you aware of any issues with the 14" Latitudes or Inspirons?

@LordofTime - which is why I did not mention the model number on the title (was edited later) but rather used it as an guidance to what I'm looking for.

@reverendj1 - I had a look and I think they don't offer a FullHD w/ discrete graphics model.

Thanks. This is very helpful. I noticed that you changed the title - but I did not want to make it a E6520 specific question, but rather a more general Dell question. I mentioned that model just b/c it seems to have the hardware options I like.

comment How to tell which of the two FTP server running is serving an FTP request?
OK, so does this mean that the only FTP server I have running is the vsftpd? If so why sftp is called sFTP? To quote from the sftp man page: " sftp is an interactive file transfer program, similar to ftp(1), which performs all operations over an encrypted ssh(1) transport."

comment How to make the clock sync automatically after suspension of a Virtual Machine
I installed the package, then, during installation I was asked if I want to replace (or something similar) a few already existing programs from the VMware tools set. I declined and let the installation finish. At night the VM was suspended and after resuming this morning, it looks like the clock is in perfect sync with the Win 7 clock. So, for now it looks like this is a solution to the problem.

Is this a default file that vnc4server reads whenever it starts, before reading the per-user file?

Thanks, @Hobie, but everything was set correctly, otherwise I won't even be able to connect.

Looks like a useful utility, although not a basic Linux command. Nice first post!

comment Why does the “d” key minimizes and restores the terminal?
Yes, this led me to the problem! By default, I had just "D" in the "Navigation"->"Hide all normal windows" shortcut... changed it to Ctrl-Alt-D, like in the other account, and voila!

comment Can't find the Network Connections icon in my GNOME Classic systray
@fossfreedom - this one does not work. When I do this, I get the menu "Mute"/"Sound Preferences", which is the same for just doing right-click or any combo including the Win key.

@BrunoPereira - you're a little trigger happy... ;-) Give me a chance to settle this issue to the end...
