Download != share.

comment How can I expand all folders while in the list view?
It may be the case that it doesn't take long to do what you suggest. The fact remains that it doesn't answer my question, which was asking if there was a one-click way to do it.

comment How can I expand all folders while in the list view?
That's still not a single step to open them all, though. I have to go through each "top-level" subfolder and click the asterisk to open that subfolder to its next level. I'm looking for a single step that will open all folders to ALL levels. What you're suggesting is exactly the same as the answer I got almost 2 years ago, which is NOT the answer I'm looking for.

comment How can I add an application to the list of Open With applications?
This is an older version of Komodo - it was installed about a year ago, and definitely did not create an icon on the desktop. But it IS already available in the dash, so I don't get why it's not in the applications list.

comment How do I set up FTP on localhost?
Thanks for the links. I followed the process to the letter, but got hung up around 7:26 in the first video - where he goes into the /srv folder to create files for testing. When I try that, it asks me for a password, which I obviously don't have since we haven't gotten to the point of creating accounts yet. (And yes, I did enable anonymous access in the .conf file.) Any idea why that's happening or how to get past it?

comment How do I completely uninstall Google Chrome and Chromium?
Bookmarks are saved in XMarks, so not an issue. I'll try deleting the folder and see if that helps. If not, I'll try the other suggestions. Thanks.

comment What Application Indicators are available?
I'm feeling really stupid, but I can't seem to get this to install. I've added the PPA to my software sources, but what do I need to do to actually install the indicator package?

comment How to hide items in Unity's top panel?
That's a great list, but unfortunately even though the indicator I really want to get rid of is displayed in a lot of the screenshots, it's not one of the ones that's listed as an answer. I'm updating my OP to show what I'm trying to hide/remove.

Thanks. For some reason it didn't occur to me to look there!

Well, I tried it, but I'm not entirely sure what the various indicator names are. Is there a list somewhere? Also, once they are removed, do I need to restart my session to see them gone?

I'll give that a shot. For some reason it never occurred to me it would be in the software center.

comment AWN displaying window icons even when Display Launchers Only selected
@tgm4883 - I'm actually not even using AWN anymore, so this isn't an issue. It may have been corrected in newer releases, if there have been any.

comment Error updating Cardapio
Thanks for the detailed instructions, but I get an error in step 1. After tons of Gets and unpacking, I get the following: Processing triggers for python-support ... Errors were encountered while processing: /var/cache/apt/archives/cardapio_0.9.180-ubuntu1-maverick1_i386.deb E: Sub-process /usr/bin/dpkg returned an error code (1)

comment Is there a vertical clock applet?
I know, but the whole point of having a single panel along the left side is to maximize screen real estate. I'm looking for an applet that will display the clock vertically, on several lines (hours one one line, then minutes, then am/pm); I know I've seen it somewhere before, just can't remember where.

comment Can I sync an iPodTouch with both a Mac and Ubuntu?
@geppettvs-dconstanzo: I'm going to give you exactly the same response here as I did to the answer you apparently deleted - I'm not looking for a file browser; I don't want to perform manual file operations like copy/paste, or dragging. I want automatic syncing/updating.

comment Can I sync an iPodTouch with both a Mac and Ubuntu?
"BUT, what if you download, for example, a song on your Ubuntu PC, use Banshee (or any other) to sync it with your iPod, and then connect it to your MAC, using iTunes?" As I said in the OP, I'm fine with making all changes on only one computer. So I should theoretically be able to download a song in iTunes on my mac, sync the iPod with iTunes, then sync Banshee with the iPod to get the new song into Banshee? Really, what I'm looking for is a way to do a one-way update of Banshee, not really a sync.

Thanks! That whole article is a big help.

comment Is there a simple mail server I can install?
Actually it doesn't even matter to me if the domains reject it - this is strictly for testing purposes, so I'm only sending to myself, and as long as I can see the postfix mail queue to know that it tried to send, I'm fine.

comment Is there a simple mail server I can install?
@jgbelacqua - thanks. It worked! I had to change the protocol setting from sendmail to just plain mail (in my php code) but it did send just fine.
