comment Sync only selected subfolders to UbuntuOne?
OK, one more question - how do I STOP syncing a folder? I tried to uncheck the Synchronize This Folder checkbox shown in the ribbon at the top of a folder that was previously set to sync, but it greys out and gives me a spinner graphic like it's trying to do something. If I leave the folder and go to a different location, then go back to the folder, the box is checked again.

OK, I just tried that before I posted, and I could swear that the option was greyed out on subfolders of the Documents folder. Just looked again and it's now available. Strange.

comment Is it possible to do a remote wipe of a system?
Thanks. I actually just posted the same thing; hopefully it will let me delete mine since you got to it first!

comment Is it possible to do a remote wipe of a system?
Thanks. Now, once all of that is installed, how do I monitor for the computer being connected to the internet? I assume I'd need to have some kind of software installed on another machine that would constantly be running and watching for the IP address of the stolen machine, correct?

I should have asked if there was anything a relative newbie could use :o) I'm willing to dig in and try what you suggest; could you elaborate and/or point me to instructions for doing something like this?

comment The simplest workspace switcher?
@Anergy - thanks. I do know how to switch workspaces; I'm just a little fuzzy on why, so I've been asking everyone I can find who uses them for examples of how they use them.

comment The simplest workspace switcher?
@michealH - I know how to ask a new question. But usually, questions like, "how do you personally use a feature" get closed because it's too vague, or subjective.

I don't have an answer, but a question: how do you (in particular) use workspaces? I'm new to Linux and can't quite get my head around the idea of separate workspaces.

I installed all the application-specific packages via synaptec; if you want to post your comment as an answer I'll mark it accepted since you posted before rafalcieslak.

comment AWN displaying window icons even when Display Launchers Only selected
I was, but when I upgraded to Maverick it caused all kinds of problems so I removed it and installed the version from the software center. That said, when I look in the software center, under Provided by Ubuntu I have Avant Window Navigator, but there's still a PPA for Awn Testing Team listed, and the dockmanager-daemon package from that PPA is still installed. No idea what that means or if it has anything to do with the behavior I'm seeing.
