comment SLOW system on HIGH-END Custom PC
What are you basing 'slow' on, are you comparing Windows' speed (on SSD) to Ubuntu's speed (on mechanical)? If so - it is expected that Ubuntu would be slow, you haven't given it the SSD treatment. Consider partitioning the SSD and giving some space to Ubuntu in a dual boot setup.

comment How can I get IntelliJ IDEA's “Show in Files” to open Nemo instead of Nautilus?
I asked on the Jetbrains forums and had to reinstall Nemo, so couldn't figure out what the problem was.

comment Hosting a tomcat site - port forwarding
Are you able to host a simple page on port 80 and try that out? You can also try changing Jira's port to 80 and trying that. If it works, consider using Apache as a proxy for your applications. (Out of curiosity is it Stash, Jira, Confluence?)

Ah sorry that was it. I got 3.13.0.24.28 from your command, so I ran sudo apt-get install linux-image-generic=3.13.0.24.28 and now I am getting updates again. Appreciated!

What would I put in place of <old-version>? I tried sudo apt-get install linux-image-generic=3.13.0-34 but I get E: Version ‘3.13.0-34’ for ‘linux-image-generic’ was not found
