Thanks for prompt feedback. my.cnf file is in /etc/mysql/my.cnf in my case. Is that correct location? dmesg gives me pleeenty of output which is beyond my comprehension :/ I indeed had 5.1 installed - does that have any consequences?

Thanks for information. I think I could live without hibernation. Just one question - for the setup without ultrabase - how do you connect? One DisplayPort cable & one VGA? Or some adapter?
