comment ZFS pool with disks labels /dev/disk/by-id/scsi*** disappeared after upgrade
You can check the SATA link speed and status with sudo dmesg | grep SATA and if you are using AHCI with sudo dmesg | grep ahci.

comment ZFS pool with disks labels /dev/disk/by-id/scsi*** disappeared after upgrade
No, that is just the device name while using the new kernel, if your drives are there then it should be fine, else a downgrade to a previous kernel will name your drives the same that they were... But zfs keeps its config in the pools you create, not in the system you are using.

comment Intel Centrino 7260 after kernel update
Yes you can, but the livecd would let you see if the wireless is working out of the box without making any changes to your current system, besides, its the same cd as the install cd. Unless you wan to upgrade directly from your current system.

comment How do I keep Geany's versions updated after installing it in my system?
This the question should be "how do I keep it updated", no specific about the actual version of Geany. If the version present in saucy is obsolete you will need a PPA to update it to a newer version. The PPA in my answer is the official PPA for debs releases from Geany.

You are failing to think GRUB has anything to do with it, remove your hard disk from your computer (note, GRUB lives there) and you will get the same results...
