This is not true, after installing the ssh server the configuration file is not empty and you do not need to write everything by hand, it comes pre-configured!

comment Why Linux doesn't provide break-point Recovery to restore system to previous safe State?
@Winn dont take it personally, I know its complicated as anything else to learn something new :) Its just that people are so focused on sorting out the hardships of "other software" that sometimes they forget how easy it can be if you only try to understand what you are doing.

@Rinzwind :) but I think the OP is looking for something less "scheduled" and more like a restore point for each action (like Windows does when you install anything, or press a button, or boot, or remove stuffs, or even think about your computer when on vacation while having mojitos, or think about apple pie... restore points! Restore points everywhere!)

But of-course, I am assuming on the "create a restore point because I am installing winrar and that might break my system" feature in windows correct? I will add an edit to the answer.

@Winn there are graphical backup tools, thats all you need. You do not need a rigid "restore my system to x in time" when simple backup tools already do that. What you need to actually do is have a look at the file system structure of a linux installation, once you realized that all you need to do is backup a few folders and nothing else you will loose the need to have such rigid tools, maybe that is the reason there was never much interest to develop such thing for Linux :)

Why do you have a big EDIT: on your candidacy application? EDIT: that should not be necessary. 2x EDIT: this is getting confusing. 3x EDIT: don't use edit on community edited content please, and there is no need to use it here. Is this the sort of uality that we should expect from you?

comment How do I disable X at boot time so that the system boots in text mode?
Since the question is made for Ubuntu and not the mobile platform (can you even change anything in the mobile version of Ubuntu? Why would that be a good thing? I am guessing you would be locked to a prompt that knows nothing about keyboard input and accepts fancy finger touches and gestures :P) I am assuming we are talking about Ubuntu, the desktop Linux based operative system that I love and can modify to my needs. :) But you are right, there is a semantics issue with the title of the post, feel free to edit it to something more proper! Thanks for the comments.

That works for lightdm, this works for any graphical login manager? This is the proper way of loading a Linux system without loading a X server? Just seems more logical? Choose one... :)

comment How to create a tunneling connection for remote screen sharing
Is opening a reverse ssh tunnel not an option? If so you just need to open a defined port on your side and direct that to a ssh server running on your side...

Hey, I edited your post to remove the parts that are not objective to the question, that will decrease the chance of people down voting it and increase the chance that you get some proper help. Please be aware that this is not a "forum" so all the necessary information should be in your post, the more information you give the better.

Open a terminal (look for it on the dash) and type the command sudo fdisk -l, what is the output of it? Edit your question with more information please.
