I am a new Ubuntu user, some past experience of Debian, but nothing to write home about.
I am a perl enthusiast on StackOverflow.com, and I am loving the Ubuntu experience. Right now, I barely see any reason to stick with Windows.

What start up scripts are executed when a terminal is opened in Ubuntu? Perhaps you should post your .bashrc anyway. |

Bash history search, partial + up-arrow @Marcel Looks like it might be the same answer, I saw that in the search, but didn't connect it to my question, with the iPython and Shell keywords. |

Bash history search, partial + up-arrow That's exactly what I was looking for. Thanks! |

Bash history search, partial + up-arrow Thanks for your reply. Yes, I have tried that, but I find it a bit... finicky. It will not allow me to scroll through commands beginning with the partial, it only shows the first. It also searches the entire command for the character, which is sort of useless. |

Flash player + YouTube HD = crashing plugin Ah, right you are. The h.264 codec is missing. Don't see it in the software centre. Oh well, I'll have a look around and see if I can find it. |

Flash player + YouTube HD = crashing plugin Oh, seems that HD is working with flash player & Chromium. I guess that solves it then. Although I am not keen to give up firefox. |

Flash player + YouTube HD = crashing plugin Nope, same thing. Most of my subs' videos are still using the Adobe Flash player instead of html5. One isn't, but that's it. |

Flash player + YouTube HD = crashing plugin Well, it says FF4 is supported, and I am using 6. Also, I have no support for that h.262 codec. I'll give Chromium a try, seems they are just about the same, except Chromium is open source. Thanks. |

Flash player + YouTube HD = crashing plugin In fact, I've only seen it once so far, so my saying that "it works" is making generalisations based on a rather small sample. |
