I like to code and I do it a lot. I want to build software to save the planet.

If you use Bazaar, you might be interested in my book Bazaar Version Control. If you work a lot in the shell, you might be interested in my Time-Saving Tricks on the Command Line.

I make free Android apps like Programming Quiz, websites like bashoneliners.com, and other open source stuff.

You can find me on Twitter as @janosgyerik or on my blog.

comment Create a Screen session with a bash script using contab
Do you get an error message or something? First get the bukkit.sh script working on the command line. Next, check that screen -S bukkit path/to/bukkit.sh works. Next, check that screen -d -m -S bukkit path/to/bukkit.sh works. Finally, setup cron. Try the most simple thing first, and take little steps so you understand which step breaks. Tell me that, and the error message you get if you need help.

comment How can I run this sh script without typing the full path?
Thanks @Jacob, notice it says "When scripts are installed into a directory in the system PATH". The idea.sh script is not such script, in fact moving it outside its installation dir is completely unsupported. The Debian packaging rules don't apply here.

@Jacob can you please include a link to this "bad practice"? I think that's plain wrong.

comment How to remove an unsuccessful installation of Java 6
You want to give up completely, or you want to fix this installation? Repeating the apt-get install step might fix it. Or you could try to remove the broken package with apt-get remove --purge oracle-java6-installer
