comment How does FDE (Full Disk Encryption) work so quickly?
@Hewbot I edited my answer to explain that decrypting happens on the fly. The OS does not need to read 1TB of data to start using an encrypted 1TB disk.

comment Printing out document does not print 'åäö'. How do I fix it?
Does the PDF display correctly on your screen in Ubuntu? What gets printed out instead of "åäö", nothing or squares or question marks or what?

comment How can I disable gedit's behaviour of right-aligning Arabic text?
The screenshots don't show when the text gets right-aligned. For example, gEdit right aligns the line when it thinks the line is only Arabic. It also doesn't show when the editor decides to set the direction to left-to-right, this is most obvious when a sentence ends in a full stop: does the full stop show on the right or the left (regardless of how the text is aligned)? Thanks though!

comment External USB hard drives - what speeds should be expected?
You are using the units MBps and Mbps, I'm not sure if you realise that a lower-case b indicates a bit, which is 8 times smaller than a byte indicated by an uppercase B.

comment External USB hard drives - what speeds should be expected?
You are using the unit mb/s with a lowercase b, which is 1 million bits per second, which is equal to 125000 bytes per second. I think you meant to use MB/s or MiB/s.

comment External USB hard drives - what speeds should be expected?
Did you mean to type 20MBp/s, with a capital "B" (byte) instead of a lowercase "b" (bit)? 20 Mbp/s is 20000000 bits per second, which is 2500000 bytes per second (2.5MB/s or 2.38MiB/s).

comment How to enable Arabic support in GNOME terminal?
I installed it and it doesn't seem to work, the Arabic characters are just boxes. Maybe it's using the wrong font?

comment How can I install Ubuntu encrypted with LUKS with dual-boot?
Thanks @Tom for the edit. Am I correct in assuming that if you don't care about the confidentiality of the previous data on the hard disk, for example, if it's a brand new hard disk, you can skip that step? All new data is still going to get encrypted and the unfilled gaps don't matter, right?

comment How do I get the CPU temperature?
This is a GNOME 2 applet, so presumably it doesn't work on Ubuntu Unity (the default) or GNOME 3.

I like this idea, although I wonder if there is a way to use LD_LIBRARY environment variable instead.

comment How to exclude/ignore hidden files and directories in a wildcard-embedded “find” search?
@frostschutz The dot after find means the current directory: find will look at all files and directories under the current directory. The argument after path is a regular expression, where a dot would normally means "any character", to make it mean a literal dot we have to escape it with a backslash. The argument after -name isn't a regular expression, but it expands wildcards like ? and * like a shell does.

comment How to backup a system with whole disk-encryption?
Generally "whole disk encryption" means something like LUKS for the entire root partition, not the home directory encryption option.
