Since the call trace has inet6_... on top of it, I'd suggest network driver / APIC issues. Disable ipv6 if you use ipv4 only (askubuntu.com/questions/440649/…). Also running the kernel with noapic nolapic might help.

Best idea is to reduce the number of tabs, add the ad- flash- or script-blocker extensions to firefox, add exception rules for your work pages and experiment, perhaps even with other browsers.

I see the same on a Core 2 Duo from 2007 with an even older AMD 4350 passive card. The culprit is always flash content on a web page, even when nothing goes on. Closing all browser windows helps.

Probably the reason why your Windows died on you is that your drive is actually dead. Installing Ubuntu on top of a dead drive will not magically resurrect it.
