comment Is it normal that network-manager manages virbr0?
@DavidFoerster I asked the question on the NetworkManager list, and they mainly suggested to upgrade to NM 1.0 or later...

comment What is Network-manager trying to do with rdisc?
@Fabby I am indeed blocking most outgoing traffic, be it IPV4 or IPV6 and only open streams I know I need. I'm currently reading through this: ietf.org/rfc/rfc4890.txt I'll come back when done !

comment Is it normal that network-manager manages virbr0?
@Fabby in fact I did (bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/network-manager/+bug/1432599) but as I'm unsure if it's really a bug, I'm trying to sort it out to avoid bothering devs with a potentially false issue.

comment df is omitting some whole parts of my fs / disks. Is there something wrong?
@Fabby in fact I was lost as 'df -h' was giving me stange results (esp. a whole disk was missing). But it turned out that it was due to cross-compile kits using overlayfs / unionfs. Then I edited the question, and maybe it's unclear now :-)

comment df is omitting some whole parts of my fs / disks. Is there something wrong?
@Fabby no I don't really... in fact I have pure QML/js app, so I think it's pretty arch agnostic, but I indeed created those kits, trying to understand how the sdk was working...

comment df is omitting some whole parts of my fs / disks. Is there something wrong?
df -h -a gives me a huge output, where /home and /var appear, but with blank size / used / avail. columns... I'm under the impression that /home and /var mountpoints from the chroots somehow interfere with my real /home and /var...

comment df is omitting some whole parts of my fs / disks. Is there something wrong?
@j0h I will edit my question if it's not clear: the problem is that df is omitting some whole parts of my fs / disks. Especially, /home is mounted on /dev/mapper/ubuntu--vg-lv--home but is not listed in df output. Same goes for /var.

What version of Ubuntu did you install ? This seems like an old version, or a particuliar flavor (like xubuntu, lubuntu,...)

comment VPN client for Ubuntu 14.04
You should edit your question to be more specific. When/where did you use Kerio VPN Client and why don't you anymore? What do you mean by VPN certifications? You should probably have some sort of credentials (user/password, certificates, ...). What type of VPN server do you want to connect to?

BUGREPORT: just created this bug report bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/apparmor/+bug/1426316 to deal with the problem.

comment Apparmor problem: Icedtea plugin freezes firefox (35.0.1)
I am not that happy with giving too much right to Java Applets. I finally found the necessary modification: give write access to /run/user/*/icedteaplugin-*. I think I'll create a launchpad bug report against Apparmor, as this is in the default abstraction.

comment Apparmor problem: Icedtea plugin freezes firefox (35.0.1)
After adding the magic, I found out that Java applets were still unable to run... I had a last DENIED message: apparmor="DENIED" operation="open" profile="/usr/lib/firefox/firefox{,[^s][^h]}//browser_openjdk" name="/run/user/1000/dconf/user" pid=11973 comm=64636F6E6620776F726B6572 requested_mask="wrc" denied_mask="wrc" fsuid=1000 ouid=1000. So I removed all additional grants, and just added w to this line in default proifile owner /run/user/*/icedteaplugin-*/ r, This was sufficient.

comment Where to add the Pre-Shared Key for the Server Authentication with Network Manager for L2TP/IPSEC?
It seems PSK was added in version 1.3.1 of the nm plugin, but utopic (or debian, for that matters) ships 1.3.0... see wiki.strongswan.org/issues/254 Maybe you should try to build it from download.strongswan.org/NetworkManager

comment Why do my A, N, Enter, Shift Keys seem to have reduced sensitivity to touch?
Your problem might not be related (as it seems only specific keys are concerned in your case), but you can try to go to "System settings", choose "language support", and then from "IBus" to "None" for the keyboard input system. IBus is here for accessibility, you might not need it, and it interracts with the keyboard, so it might be the culprit...

comment Why do my A, N, Enter, Shift Keys seem to have reduced sensitivity to touch?
I had a similar problem with PgAdmin, which is based on Wx widgets, and it was due to a bug in Wx when working with IBus. Disabling IBus solved my problem (in settings / languages). You can try that...

Maybe obvious, but did you ensure the permissions are set right on your theme files (ie are the same as the permissions a theme deb will set) ?
