I live in Southern California and have been using Ubuntu since 8.04. I'm more of a GUI type of guy but will get my hands dirty in terminal, but most of that is thru Google and monkey see - monkey do. I prefer Unity over the Gnome Shell and I believe Ubuntu has made huge positive jumps with each release. Right now I use Ubuntu mostly and then Win7, and that's just to run the updates. I have another laptop that explore other OS's with, now its Xubuntu 13.04 (just about time for 13.10) and I love it just as much!

Y'all enjoy!!!

PS, if you really want to learn Ubuntu it is thru sites like this.

comment How to install Chrome browser properly via command line?
I think my answer is outdated. I've used the answer above mine (at this time) by @Dale E. Moore and had successful installs.

I get this an ERROR 404 with these instructions. I installed using @David E. Moore instructions listed below. Not sure if adding the libxss1 helped with Mr Moore's instruction or not but I did do that before. This was on a fresh install on 13.10 Unity amd64 install.

comment Ubuntu One for Xfce or Xubuntu?
After I installed with Ubuntu Software Center I did what Jorge said, use ALT-F2 and then ubuntuone-control-panel-qt --with-icon and it works great.

comment Evolution vs. Webmail?
These are the biggest advantage to using local storage, the fact you can view your webmail offline.

comment Ubuntu 10.04 LTS Minimal requirements (special)
Xubuntu or Lubuntu should work. I think Lubuntu has less requirements but either of them are great!

comment Broadcom 4312 wireless not working on an HP dv6-1245 DX
The first line only is what I have to do on my dv5000 series, except I don't mess with the firmware-b43legacy-installer. You might have to use it though. I don't even have to reboot, I just make sure the manual switch is turned on for the wireless. If you don't want to do it through console you can use Synaptic Package Manager and search for it there. I still have to use it on 12.04.

comment How to connect from my laptop's display port to my TV's DVI port?
I know this is not the answer you are looking for but I run from my VGA port on my laptop to the vga port on my TV with no problems. Of course this will only help if you have these ports.
