I'm trying to create an odbc sql-server connection and I'm on the same point. But there is one thing, you could use tsql. There is a tool that helps you test your connection:

Would you recommend to use juju in order to instantiate hadoop? I'm spending a lot of time configuring hadoop. I suposse that at the begining, while you are learning a technology that's common.

Is the original file in ppt format? Libreoffice breaks several proprietary format files. Try exporting it to .odp from Microsoft Office and then open it with libreoffice.

The path of the hadoop-env.sh isn't inside the hduser. Insted, it is /etc/hadoop/conf.empty/hadoop-env.sh
