Hey! It was indeed there, but I just had to restart the shell for it to work. Thanks again for taking the time for helping me out!

@kalina Just did that but still same problem :/. After navigating to the folder so that ./visit works and typing pwd I got /home/kingdavid/Documents/visit/bin, so my export line is now export PATH=$PATH:/home/kingdavid/Documents/visit/bin.

@kalina I just used your alternate steps since the SO ones didn't seem to work and I'm still having the problem. The command I entered in .bashrc is export PATH=$PATH:/Documents/visit/bin, is that correct? The export PATH= wasn't in there originally so I added it. Any thoughts? Thanks for writing this up, by the way!

@kalina The visit-install2_7_1 executable is a bash file, is that what you mean? I'm actually not sure what .cshrc is, it was just part of that command given in the install notes.

@steeldriver just added those results above. I'll let you decide what is "interesting" as I have no idea.

believe me, I've tried that many times! Whatever this problem is, it sure is frustrating. Nothing seems to be working and yet the menu bar shows I am connected and it still works fine on the Windows side.

Okay, just changed IPv4 Settings to Automatic (DHCP) addresses only, then entered "8.8.8.8, 8.8.4.4" into the "DNS servers" box, and "www.google.com" into the "Search domains" box. As per others' instructions I have IPv6 Settings method set to "Ignore". I'm still not able to ping google or access Internet, though. Thanks for the response!

@RPiAwesomeness just did that, same result: "unknown host google.com". Thanks

@RPiAwesomeness thanks for the link, but it doesn't look like that guy and I have the same problem. When I try the ping -c4 command to the same ip address in that thread I get a "Destination Host Unreachable" error. How can i find another ip address to try?
