pasuspender disables PulseAudio for an app. As I remember it wouldn't affect your existing installation, it just add oss drivers for alsa. Anyway, you can always purge this package.

And answer to your question - no, you don't need to buy another wi-fi adapter. By the way, iy you REBOOT from windows to Ubuntu, wi-fi will probably work there too, because windows has already uploaded a firmware in you wi-fi card.
