comment FGLRX (Catalyst 11.6) is it compatible with kernel 2.6.39?
Weird.. Is your uname -a something similar to this: Linux ulti-laptop 2.6.39.3-candela #1 SMP Sat Jul 16 12:55:43 CST 2011 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux

What the hell happened?.. Anyhow I used kernel check to install the kernel again. And also, is it possible for you to pose your free -m output somewhere? There's a huge kernel leak somewhere... i think..

comment Swap shoots to 100% after a couple of hours of usage
hm... swap now at 500MB, 5 hours usage.... meaning the problem is still there, but better than before.

I think the reason lies in xorg-edger's linux kernel, installed now from kernel check, swap is not being used as much (fired up my xp vm when the "free" memory is at around 500, and nothing was put to swap, like it used to). Though I can't be sure as something's taking 35mb of my swap atm

Strange, I've noticed that issue askubuntu.com/questions/51785/… Currently using kernelcheck, hopefully that issue is going away.

Are you experiencing any memory issue (such as swap being used to 100% and your computer freezing even though it says you have a tonne of ram unused?)

I just realized something afterbooting up my XP virtual machine, which I haven't done so ever after installing fgrlx (which resolved the issue of switchable graphics, reboot, shutdown, and logout). Before, my XP virtual machine would use physical memory, now it's using swap. So does this mean fglrx is at fault?

btw: sudo swapoff -a; sudo swapon -a only works the first time around, not the second. Also, I've patched my kernel with the latest fglrx driver (to enable switchable graphics), might that be the cause?

I have htop, and it shows the same as the system monitor column.
